Fundraiser Postponed

5 11 2008

Our donut fundraiser has been postponed. We are having some paperwork problems to make our club legit on paper to the school, so that way we qualify to have a fundraiser. So for now, we can spend more time focusing on getting our videos submitted for MEZMR ’08. For instructions on how to do so, click here.

The Votes are In!

5 11 2008

Obama '08

Congratulations on our new, and first African-American president of the United States of America. Regardless if you voted for him or not, it still is incredible to be present in 2008 and be part of one of the greatest moments in U.S. History. I thank the many students like me who voted for the first time in their lives, and regardless for who you voted, it is a remarkable feeling to finally have a say in the issues that effect our daily lives. To me personally, it is my first vote in my life after getting my citizenship a couple of months ago. :) Thanks America, and may we hope that great CHANGE will come from this!

Fundraiser Update

30 10 2008

For those of you who weren’t at the meeting last night, we talked about the fundraiser again, and I’d like to give you an update.

Thanks to our VP, Brandy, we got a discount on our donuts, so Marco will be picking them up on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday, and we’ll be selling them in the Hub. Anyone who would like to still volunteer their help to come sell donuts, please email Marco at mpiedy20@student.scad.edu by Sunday, and let him know. The hours on Monday will be 2pm till 4pm, but the other two days will be arranged according to availability of the volunteers.

Also, we are going to try and get a screen that will be placed behind the donate stand, or possibly use the projector to play a funny “donut” animation to try and get everyone’s attention to buy some donuts! So if you’d like to make a silly animation, please submit it on Professor Burge’s computer in Lab 308 by Sunday, so we can put it on a disk to be played on the screen. Place the file (full Animation Quality) in the “Donuts” folder on the Professor Station in Lab 308, and remember to name it with first initial lastname_Donuts.mov, for example: LTruter_Donuts.mov.

Please don’t make it to fancy, or spend to much time on this, because we’d rather you spend more time on the dotmov, and MEZMR ’08 logo. Thanks!

MEZMR ’08

27 10 2008

SCAD-ATL, will be hosting their own Motion Graphics, Animation, and Visual Effects event this coming November 15th, called MEZMR ’08. The event will have special guest from local Atlanta Post Production Houses speaking about the industry, their experiences, and their work. Students work will also be featured in the show, so make sure to submit your work to Professor Burge, by uploading it to the professor station in room 308. Please follow the following steps to submit your work.

1) Create a folder under the MEZMR ’08 folder with your first and last name, ex: Lieze Truter.

2) Make sure each project you are submitting is full Quicktime “Animation” quality, which is the default setting selected when you render your project out of After Effects. If you’re not sure if your project you already have is not full animation or not, you can click “command” and “i” on the file. That will bring up the info tab, which will tell you the compression of the file you have. It should say “Animation” if it is full animation quality.

3) Name each project with your first initial, last name, underscore, project name, ex: LTruter_BridgeRun.mov

4) Make a TextEdit, or Word Document file that has details about each project (what the goal or objective of the project was), and which class the project was created for and what year. Also include your full name, major, class and anticipated graduation year and semester, ex: Lieze Truter, Broadcast Design and Motion Graphics, Senior (Summer 2009).

5) Make sure to email Professor Burge to let him know you submitted your work. :)

Each student will be able to have atleast 2 works shown during the showcase, and Professor Burge will pick your best ones from all of the work submitted, so don’t be shy to submit plenty of your work. If you have a demo reel, make sure to put that in as well!
